Our Purpose

Bodie’s Light was developed to raise funds, resources, and awareness for families like ours who are impacted by the devastating loss of a child through stillbirth in honor of our son, Bodie Trace.

Jessica & Scott Gagnon

Our Story

On Labor Day 2020, we, Scott and Jessica Gagnon, found out we were expecting our first child. This news came one week after the unexpected passing of Scott’s mother, Tracy Gregorius. We named our son Bodie Trace in honor of Tracy’s favorite beer, Bodhizafa, and Trace after her first name. We believed Bodie was given to us as a light after the darkness of Tracy’s death.

Throughout Jessica’s pregnancy, we did all the things expectant parents do: set up the nursery, announced our pregnancy to friends and family, did the gender reveal, and had a baby shower. It was a smooth and enjoyable pregnancy. Bodie was due on May 18th, 2021. However, on May 19th after experiencing some contractions, Jessica realized she hadn’t felt Bodie move all morning. We both rushed to the Birth House where we were given the news that Bodie was no longer with us.

Jessica naturally went into labor on May 19th and our handsome little guy was born into Heaven on May 20th, 2021 at 10:35 am. He was 8 pounds, 10 ounces, and 22 inches long. From there, it was a whirlwind of events such as having to make the heartbreaking decision to cremate or bury him and leaving the hospital without our son. This has been, by far, the most difficult time in both of our lives, and we don’t ever wish these hard decisions to have to be made by a family in such dark times of grief.

Bodie’s Light was created to share our story and help other families navigate these difficult decisions with support and resources in honor of our son, Bodie Trace.
